What is Midtown Move?

Midtown Move is a 4-week wellness program created and run by pediatricians at Children's Hospital of Michigan. It is funded by grant money from the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation ensuring that there is no cost to any family who wants to join. Midtown Move was inspired by the Metabolic Wellness clinic in the General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine Clinic at Children's Hospital of Michigan. The focus of the metabolic wellness clinic was to provide families with the tools they need through counseling to help their children at risk for diabetes and high blood pressure eat healthier. Midtown Move takes this goal one step further by providing families with resources, exercise equipment, and weekly mentorship.

How Does Midtown Move
Work?

  • Midtown Move is open to children and teenagers ages 6-18.

  • Children and teenagers enrolled will be placed in a small group with a Pediatric Resident Doctor as their mentor. They will meet with their mentor each week to review a lesson for that week, discuss their progress, and then participate in 1 hour of exercise.

  • Each week participants enrolled have a chance to compete with each other and earn prizes for meeting their goals!

  • Midtown Move runs every Tuesday for 4-weeks from 4:30-6:00 pm in the Lexus Velodrome located on Mack Ave. in Detroit, MI.

  • Following completion of the program children and teenagers will have the option continue to follow with the doctors at Children's Hospital of Michigan in their Metabolic Clinic.
